    The Island Project

The Island is a small shanty town situated in the Colombian department of Magdalena. The population of around 900 people are a collection of Colombian displaced people, who were forced to leave their homes in other dangerous areas of Colombia by guerrilla and paramilitary groups.

Also, due to the catastrophic political situation at present being experienced in Venezuela, there are around 200 refugees camped out there.

The vast majority of these displaced people and refugees live in appalling conditions, with little in the way of sanitation, gas or electricity. They have no running water, so drinking water has to be brought in by plastic containers.

Oasis of Hope Foundation have planted a church in the area in a rented building and have a social action project to meet the needs of approx.; 300 of the people.

It’s envisaged that when finances can be found we will purchase a plot of land and build a church. The church will be used for both the spiritual needs of the people and the social requirements that are in such short supply.
